This web site contains the public involvement
technical memorandums prepared for various roadway projects in Lee
County. The short version of each report contains a summary of the
workshop, summarized comments received as a result of the workshop
and the Lee County DOT’s response to the public comment. The long
version includes the summary of the workshop and all of the
appendices included in the report. Opening the long version of these
reports may take a long period of time due to the file size. The
appendices include copies of all public comment submitted for each
project. In addition, upcoming public workshops will be listed on
this page as they are scheduled.
The Lee County Department of
Transportation (DOT) is designing proposed improvements
for Gladiolus Drive from Winkler Road to Pine Ridge
Road. The improvements include:
• Widening to six
lanes from Winkler Rd. to Bass Rd.
• Widening to four
lanes from Bass Rd. to Pine Ridge Rd.
• Access Management
for intersections and driveways intersecting Gladiolus
Dr.
Improvements to the county's roadway network are based
on existing traffic and future traffic projections.
Traffic projections associated with Gladiolus Drive
predict the need for a six-lane facility between Winkler
Road and Bass Road and a four-lane facility between Bass
Road and Pine Ridge Road.
WHAT'S NEXT
Survey crews will
begin working within the project limits as early as
February. They will be locating existing structures,
utilities and right-of-way. If you have questions
regarding this project,
please call. Mike Rigsby 479-8513. After survey work is complete
and 30% design plans are prepared, Lee DOT anticipates
scheduling a public information workshop in early 2003
for the Gladiolus Project.
SUMMERLIN RD.
PROJECT Proposed improvements
to Summerlin Road consist of widening the 4.5+ miles of
four-lane roadway to a six-lane divided roadway with the
addition of a flyover interchange at the intersection of
Summerlin Road and Gladiolus Drive. Median modifications
and exclusive left and/or right turn lanes will be
provided to improve the overall safety of the roadway.
The four-laning of Winkler Road from Summerlin Road to
Gladiolus Drive is also included in this project.
